AAC Conductor

In this topic, you study All-Aluminum Conductor (AAC).

All-Aluminum Conductor (AAC) are mainly used for low voltage distribution system. It uses a bunch of aluminium conductors which are stranded. Stranding increases flexibility. Refer Fig. 2.1.

Features of AAC Conductor

1. Better flexibility due to stranding.
2. Durable and light.
3. Conductivity is 66% as that of copper.
4. Weight is half as that of copper conductors.
5. Average ultimate strength is 65% as that of stranded copper.
