What is Projection Welding? Process, Diagram, Advantages & Applications

This process is a modification of spot welding, in which the current and pressure are localised at the weld points. In this process, the projections are formed In the sheets to be welded by embossing in a punch press. The welding is done in a press type machine with electrodes in the form of platens which can distribute the current and pressure equally on the sheets. The advantage of this type of welding is that a number of spot welds can be made simultaneously (see Fig. 1).

What is Spot Welding? Process, Diagram, Advantages & Applications

The spot welding method is used to weld on spot. Sheets to be welded are held between electrodes made of copper or alloy of copper or tungsten. This process is used to join overlapping sheets or plates. The sheets to be welded are held between the electrodes. The pressure is applied and the current is passed through the metal.

What is IC Engine (Internal Combustion Engine)? Parts, Diagram, Types & Applications

What is Internal Combustion Engine

IC Engine (Internal combustion engine) is a type of heat engine which converts the heat energy released during combustion of fuel into mechanical work. As the combustion takes place within the engine cylinder it is named as internal combustion engine. This type of engine makes use of liquid and gaseous fuels for combustion. Most of the modern IC engines works on operating cycles such as Otto and Diesel cycles. They are used in automobiles, industries and in many other applications. Different types of IC engines are two stroke engine, four stroke engine, petrol engine, etc.

What is Rankine Cycle? Process, Components, Diagram & Efficiency

Rankine cycle is an ideal thermodynamic cycle for thermal power plants. In this cycle all processes are reversible and it produces useflul work by expansion of steam. Rankine cycle is a modified Carnot cycle, in which most of the limitations of carnot cycle are eliminated. A schematic diagram of ideal Rankine cycle is shown in figure (1).
